Hi! Utah Work Incentive Planning Services.

What is that? You receive SSI/SSDI? It helps people who receive SSI/SSDI understand how working affects their SSI/SSDI benefits and other benefits (including Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps, housing, and many others). It helps you make good decisions about working.

How can meeting with a benefits specialist help me? The benefit specialist will teach you the rules for working and receiving benefits at the same time. The rules come directly from Social Security. You will be able to make good decisions about work. Do I increase my hours; do I accept the raise; do I work full time or part time; do I work or go back to school; to not need benefits anymore, how much do I need to earn?

What does the appointment look like? There are two appointments. First appointment- gather information and allow the specialist to talk to SSA on your behalf. The specialist will verify your benefit as well as any past work information on record. Second appointment- Explain your exact benefits and the rules for working. Both appointments are about an hour and half. I promise you will leave the appointment knowing more about your specific benefits.

Do I have to work to meet with the specialist? No. Working is not a requirement to meeting with the specialist. You will have the opportunity to learn if working is a good idea for you. You will make the decision to work or not.

My friend told me….. Each person’s benefits are different. Their benefits are unique. Please do not listen to friends or family. If you want more information about your exact benefits, please fill out the referral form to meet with a specialist. The specialist will gather your exact benefits directly from Social Security.

Who is the benefit specialist? Annette Stewart has been trained and certified to work with people who receive SSI and SSDI. She will sign directly to you. If her sign is hard to understand, she can provide a Certified Deaf Interpreter. If you do not want to meet with Annette, you can request a hearing benefits specialist and we can provide you with an interpreter.
